RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT:

Each patient resides at our center and is part of the therapeutic community in the residential program for approximately eight weeks.  In this program we conduct medically managed detoxification, if prescribed, under the strict supervision of a physician and with 24 hour medical monitoring.  Parallel to the detoxification process, the rehabilitation process begins as soon as medically appropriate.

Treatment activities include: Daily group therapy; individual therapy; physician consultation; treatment planning and case management; health and fitness activities with monitor; therapeutic creativity workshops; psycho-educational workshops with homework and reading assignments; therapeutic community time; community based recovery support groups; and other monitored off-site recovery activities.

Saturday family programs at the center include family therapy, and family educational offerings which are scheduled as appropriate to the individualized treatment plan of the patient.

Family sponsored and supported off-site activities are considered on a case by case basis, when viewed as clinically appropriate by the interdisciplinary team of treatment professionals.

Closed Campus Policy: We encourage full attendance and participation in treatment through program completion.  Each patient attends our programs voluntarily and may terminate treatment at any time by signing out of the facility, documenting that the exit of the facility is "against medical advice" and is a voluntary termination treatment.

Patients participate in our program as part of the therapeutic community in the Intensive Outpatient program for three weeks.  This program is not designed for patients with acute withdrawal symptoms, or complex co-occurring mental health conditions. The Intensive Outpatient program begins daily at 09:00 and ends at 18:00.

For patients who are unable to commute, or are living outside of the vicinity of MonteAlminara, accommodations for on-site lodging and meals are available.  If patient attends the Intensive Outpatient program utilizing the on-site lodging and meal accommodations, then the Closed Campus Policy applies during the entire three week program.

OUTPATIENT CARE / AFTERCARE:

We offer a variety of Outpatient care through our multi-specialty team of professionals.  The type of care, frequency of visits, and intensity of support is based on the needs of our patients and their families.

Aftercare is the term used for the support needed in the period of early recovery following formal treatment. In this level of care we accompany the patient and family on the journey of early recovery, which applies all of the insight and self-awareness gained by the patient through the formal treatment process.

Re-insertion/Halfway House is structured living with therapeutic community support.  When appropriate in early recovery, we have accommodations for structured and monitored sober living, while our patients begin to put to practice all of the tools and insight that was attained through formal treatment.  This level of outpatient care may be appropriate for a few weeks up to several months after completion of residential treatment, depending on the patients adaptation to abstinence based recovery.  This allows for a supportive environment while the patient develops the new social, vocational, and educational goals that have determined to help them reach their full potential and support their life of recovery.

Weekly aftercare group therapy and individual sessions are recommended and offered in our programs for the first year following formal treatment at either MonteAlminara Treatment Center near Moclinejo, or at our Outpatient Clinic in downtown Malaga.  This aftercare "doing" behavior is essential, therapeutic support, through the difficulties that may arise in early recovery, and over time helps to ensure the patient has committed themselves to their new life of recovery and allows for integration and implementation of their improved healthy lifestyle, while receiving help and feedback from trusted professionals, and the fellow members of the recovery group.

For patients who are unable to commute, or are living outside of the vicinity of MonteAlminara, and who complete our formal treatment programs, we will coordinate with appropriate aftercare support professionals near your home, to ensure that the essential early recovery aftercare support is available to you for the first year of recovery.

Additionally, we encourage involvement in community based recovery support groups for our patients and their families throughout recovery.

The ultimate goal in aftercare for our patients is finding normalcy in recovery, and seeing our patients return to their improved recovery environment, feeling secure and confident, with the maximum likelihood of sustained recovery.
